On the first day of the journey, we will pick you up from the airport, the port, or your lodging in Casablanca. Casablanca is considered Morocco's economic center and largest city. First, we will visit Morocco's greatest mosque, the Hassan II Mosque. It is located on the city's west shore, on a peninsula that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Free time for lunch. Then we explore the city and go to the magnificent Cornish of Casablanca. Stay overnight in a hotel.
After breakfast, depart from Casablanca to see the ancient Roman remains of Volubilis. It is well protected because UNESCO designated it a World Heritage Site. There are several exquisite mosaics strewn throughout, as well as old pillars and archways. After meandering among the ruins, we drive 30 kilometers to Meknes. Ismaili capital and one of the imperial cities. In which we explore Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal Stables, and the Granary. Finally, the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Then we travel to Fes. Overnight stay at a Riad.
We spend the day with a local guide exploring the highlights of Fes, which is known as one of Morocco's imperial towns as well as its cultural and religious hub.
We begin the day by visiting the Royal Palace Gate. Then there's the well-preserved medieval Medina, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will visit the Blue Gate, also known as Bab Boujloud, which is the entrance to the old Medina. This appears to be a labyrinth of alleyways and streets. You'll enter the Medina to see the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, and the Tanneries. Finally, there is the Quaraouin Mosque and University, the world's oldest university. Following that, we leave the Medina to explore the Jewish district, commonly known as "the Mellah". In the afternoon, we drive to a historic fortification with a panoramic view of the Medina and Fes. Finally, return to your riad.
After breakfast, we drive south through Imouzzer to reach Ifrane. The city is well-known for its cold temperatures, snow, and alpine-style architecture houses. It's no surprise that it's known as Morocco's Switzerland. Following that, we head to the cedar forest, where the Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them while strolling through the forest. Later, we will continue to Midelt, where we will have some free time for lunch. Then we drive to Merzouga via the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and the Ziz Valley. Includes stops for panoramic views.
at the afternoon, we arrive at the Sahara desert of Merzouga. Then you swap to camels to cross the dusty desert. After that, you will halt on top of a high dune to watch the sunset. Finally, you proceed to the camp. Where you can enjoy Berber drum music while dancing around a campfire under a big open sky of stars. Dinner and stay at the campsite.
Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the lovely sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then you ride camels back to Merzouga, where the driver awaits. We then leave the desert to explore Rissani town, Tafilalet's historic capital. Rissani remains an important trading town in the region, with a huge and bustling souk.
After a stroll in Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud where we visit one of the workshops of fossilized marble. Then we drive through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves, to reach the Todra Gorges. The course of Todra river has carved out a high red cliff-sided canyon through the mountains. These gorges are an ideal place for rock climbers. Feel free to wander in the gorges and appreciate the beauty of the landscape. Free time for lunch in a restaurant. Then we continue to the Dades valley, through Boumalne Dades. Inevitable stops at the “monkey fingers” rock formation, and for the view of the Dades valley. Finally, dinner and overnight in a hotel.
Finally, we continue our trip to Kalaa Magouna, to visit the Rose valley. A Rose Festival is held annually in May. Where the locals offer their rose products. Then we drive through the palm groves of Skoura. We reach Ouarzazate, where we visit the studios, in which famous movies were shot.
After that we depart to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. A fortified village recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Furthermore, the Kasbah has appeared in many movies including : Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy…etc. And TV series including Game Of Thrones. Then we continue to Marrakech, by driving through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, and the High Atlas Mountains. Stops will be made for lunch, and to take pictures at interesting spots.
