The 3 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech Itinerary

Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzougua - Desert Camp

This 3 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech begins in the early morning from your Riad or Hotel in Fes. You will meet your driver and begin your journey toward the Merzouga Desert. It is one of the longer treks, taking approximately 7 hours, but we will enjoy the variety of scenery. On the route, we will stop in Ifrane, which has a European nature and climate, parks with lakes and chalets, a ski resort, and an abundance of snow in the winter, earning the town the moniker "Moroccan Switzerland". On our trip to Azrou, we'll stop near Ifrane to see the spectacular Atlas cedars and feed the wild monkeys. Monkeys are pleasant and enjoy being fed.

Lunch stop in Midelt. Our road will continue through the canyon and valley of the Ziz River, and as we approach Er-Rashidia, the terrain will change to a desert. After arriving in Merzouga, we will either ride camels or take a 4x4 to our desert tent. The accommodations include comfy beds, separate showers, and toilets. At night, we will eat a Moroccan feast, play drums around the fire, and listen to Berber melodies in the desert.

Overnight in the camp.

Day 2: Merzouga (Erg chebbi) - Rissani - Erfoud - Erfoud - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley

We'll get up with the first rays of sunlight to watch the sunrise over the breathtaking and silent sandy dunes. This will become one of your most vivid memories of Morocco!

After breakfast, we'll return to Merzouga and continue our journey to Dades. On the way, we'll travel via Rissani, which features "The Fossil Factory," where you can observe the various fossils that this region is known for. After roughly 3 hours, we'll stop for a panoramic photo in the picturesque town of Tinghir, nestled in the heart of a vast palm oasis. Next, we'll head to the famous Todra Gorge, where we'll wander and eat lunch at a local restaurant. We'll continue our tour through the stunning village of Dades.

Stay overnight in Dades.

Day 3: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait ben Haddou Kasbah - Marrakech

Today, we'll take a short drive to the Dades Gorges before continuing on to Ouarzazat. We'll travel past Mgouna, where the rose festival is held every year. We shall continue our journey to the Skura oasis. It is a lush palm oasis bisected by many rivers. Then continue to Ouarzazate, which is 30 minutes from Skura. This city is commonly referred to as the "Hollywood of Morocco" because it has been the setting for many historical films. Kasbah Taurirt is one of the city's historical sites; we can visit the Kasbah first, followed by the Cinema Museum and Atlas Film Studio.

Next, we'll take a short trip to Ait Ben Hadou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that gets a lot of visitors because it's where Game of Thrones was filmed. After our one-hour stay, we will travel to Marrakesh via the highest Atlas Mountains, Tizi n-Tishka at an elevation of 2260 m (3.5-4 hours excluding pauses). We will make photo stops along the way. This is one of Morocco's most attractive highways, featuring vistas of lush river valleys, adobe communities, and the ruins of ancient kasbahs. After that, we'll drive to Marrakech. We can rest in the hotel while you have time on your own.
