Our driver will pick you up from your Marrakech accommodation at 8:30 a.m. Your 4 days desert tour from marrakech to merzouga will start in Dades valley. It will pass via the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, which is 2260 m above sea level in the High Atlas Mountains.
We will enjoy the great mountain road. We will see beautiful scenery with many colors. We will pass through many real Berber towns on our journey to Ouarzazate.
There we will visit Taourirt Kasbah. It’s one of Morocco‘s most spectacular ksars. We will also visit the Oscar film studios. We will have lunch there.
The second stop is the Rose Valley. It runs through the large Skoura palm grove. The valley is a beautiful place to see nature and several kasbahs. Roses are grown in these Valley damascenes. They are grown for cosmetics, including the very valued rosewater.
Every May, they hold the Rose Festival here, and it serves as an important museum for Moroccan culture. We next travel to Dades Valley, where we will spend the night at a hotel overlooking the valley.
We will have breakfast at the hotel. Then, we will depart for the Todra Gorges on our 4 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. While on the way, we will pass through Tinghir. We will make a stop there to admire the beautiful Todra Valley. It features palm trees along its landscape. The Todra Gorges are now a top rock climbing spot in Morocco.
We will take a quick stroll through the area’s 300-meter-high, pink and grey canyons. Then, we will go to Tinjdad and Touroug for lunch. Then, we will go on to Erfoud, where we will see the first Saharan oasis, Tafilalet. From there, we will travel to Merzouga and the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes.
Take a one-and-a-half-hour camel ride to your Nomadic Berber tents. During the walk, take a break in the dunes to watch the sunset. Try sandboarding, take photos, and enjoy the environment.
After sunset, you will go to the camp. There, you will get mint tea, dinner, a campfire, a music party, and stay overnight at Berber camp Merzouga desert.
The next day, after seeing the sunrise, you’ll eat breakfast and shower at camp. Then you’ll ride the camels or take a 4WD back to the start, where you’ll meet your driver.
Then we’ll drive to Ouarzazate via Rissani to attend its weekly traditional market. We’ll go only if we’re lucky enough to be here on a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday).
Afterward, we’ll drive through the arid pre-desert area. There, we’ll see the typical acacia trees of this landscape. On our way to the Draa Valley, we’ll pause to admire the stunning views of the river that gives the valley its name. It is the longest river in Morocco.
Our 4 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert, continues to Ouarzazate. It goes over the Anti-Atlas mountains. We will have free time in the city for lunch. Then we will continue our drive to Ouarzazate. We will arrive there late afternoon or evening. We will have supper and spend the night at the hotel.
After breakfast, we will drive to Ait ben Haddou, a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO in 1986. The Kasbah has been in many films. These include Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penélope Cruz. We will also stop in Tizi n’Tichka. There, we will enjoy the stunning mountain views and see authentic Berber villages.
Lunch will be served at a restaurant. Then we will continue to Marrakech, arriving in the afternoon. We will end our 4-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga there.
