Quick answer

Twelve days from Casablanca: the imperial cities, two nights in Merzouga, the Dades Valley, Marrakech, Essaouira and back via Oualidia to Casablanca, with a free day in Fes and in Marrakech. 12 days · 11 nights · from € 1.599 per person · Private tour.

About this tour

This 12-day Casablanca desert tour is a private Morocco desert tour starting and ending in Casablanca. The route runs from Casablanca through Rabat, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Fes and back to Casablanca. You travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with your own driver, only with your own group, you set the pace, and you stay in hand-picked riads and hotels along the way.

The best part is the desert itself. In Merzouga you swap the car for camels and take a camel ride in Erg Chebbi at sunset, then spend the night in a desert camp in Erg Chebbi with dinner and Berber music by the fire. Wake up early for the sunrise over the dunes — the quietest hour of the whole trip — and try sandboarding before the ride back to the village.

The best time to visit Merzouga is March to May and September to November, when the days are warm and the crowds are thinner. The tour runs all year. The price for this tour is confirmed on enquiry — send us your dates and group size and we send you a quote.

Questions, answered

What is the difference from the 11-day tour?

One more day: a free day in Fes and the return to Casablanca via Oualidia, so the tour starts and ends in Casablanca.

Are city guides included?

Yes, licensed city guides are included in Fes and Rabat.

Can I shorten the tour?

Yes, the 10-day and 9-day tours are the shorter versions of the same route.

What is the best time for this tour?

March to May and September to November are the best months: warm days, cool desert nights and clear skies. The tour runs all year. In summer (June to August) the desert is very hot, over 45°C, so the camel ride and the camp stay are planned for the cooler hours.
