The celebration takes place in your private camp, only with your guests. 3 days · 2 nights · from € 1.099 per person · Private tour.

About this tour

This 3-day Marrakech desert tour is a private Morocco desert tour starting and ending in Marrakech. The route runs from Marrakech through High Atlas, Aït Ben Haddou, Dades Valley, Todra Gorge and back to Marrakech. You travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with your own driver, only with your own group, you set the pace, and you stay in hand-picked riads and hotels along the way.

The best part is the desert itself. In Merzouga you swap the car for camels and take a camel ride in Erg Chebbi at sunset, then spend the night in a desert camp in Erg Chebbi with dinner and Berber music by the fire. Wake up early for the sunrise over the dunes — the quietest hour of the whole trip — and try sandboarding before the ride back to the village.

The best time to visit Merzouga is March to May and September to November, when the days are warm and the crowds are thinner. The tour runs all year. The price for this tour is confirmed on enquiry — send us your dates and group size and we send you a quote.

High Atlas

The High Atlas — the mountain wall between Marrakech and the desert, crossed by the Tizi n'Tichka pass.

Aït Ben Haddou

The clay ksar on the old caravan road, a UNESCO site made famous by films — walk the alleys and climb to the top.

Dades Valley

A valley of rose gardens and red rock, where the road winds between the cliffs and the kasbahs.

Todra Gorge

Walk between 300-metre rock walls in the narrowest part of the gorge — the most dramatic canyon in Morocco.

Merzouga / Erg Chebbi

Ride camels into the dunes at sunset and sleep in a desert camp under the stars — the high sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, up to 150 m.

Day by day

Day 1 — Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou and the Dades Valley

Your desert wedding trip starts in Marrakech. The road climbs into the High Atlas and crosses the Tizi n'Tichka pass, at 2,260 metres, with wide views over the mountains. After the pass you stop at Ait Ben Haddou, the old fortified village of clay houses. Then the road continues into the Dades Valley, where you spend the night in a hotel.

~350 km · 6.5 h Night in Dades Valley · Hotel Dinner
Day 2 — Dades Valley to Todra Gorge and Merzouga

From the Dades Valley you drive to Todra Gorge, where the road runs between high rock walls. After a stop there, the road leads east to Merzouga, at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. In the late afternoon you take a private camel ride into the dunes at sunset. Back in your private camp, the celebration dinner is served, with music by the campfire.

~270 km · 4 h Night in Merzouga · Desert camp Breakfast, Dinner
Day 3 — Merzouga to Ouarzazate and Marrakech

The day starts with sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast in the camp you start the long return drive to Marrakech, via Ouarzazate and back over the High Atlas. The drive takes most of the day, around nine to ten hours in total. You arrive in Marrakech in the evening, where the tour ends.

Questions, answered

Is this a legal wedding ceremony?

No. The celebration in camp is a private wedding party with your guests, not a legal ceremony. For a legal wedding, arrange the paperwork at home first.

How many guests fit in the camp?

The camp is private for your group. State the number of guests in the enquiry and we plan the camp and vehicles around it.

What does the wedding celebration cost?

The from-price is €1099 per person. The exact price depends on the number of guests, the camp and the plan — we state it after your enquiry.

Can we plan the celebration ourselves?

Yes. The plan, the food and the music by the campfire are agreed with you. Write your wishes in the enquiry.

What is the best time for this tour?

March to May and September to November are the best months: warm days, cool desert nights and clear skies. The tour runs all year. In summer (June to August) the desert is very hot, over 45°C, so the camel ride and the camp stay are planned for the cooler hours.

How many days do you need for a tour starting and ending in Marrakech?

3 days is the right length for this route: starting and ending in Marrakech, at a relaxed pace, with the desert night in Erg Chebbi and time at each stop. If you have more time, ask us to add a day.
