Quick answer

A private tour means you decide the route, the pace and the hotels; we provide the vehicle, your own driver and the bookings. Start in Marrakech, Casablanca, Fes, Tangier or Agadir. The 7-day route below is an example — we adjust it to your days and wishes. 7 days · 6 nights · from € 389 per person · Private tour.

About this tour

This 7-day custom private tour is a private Morocco desert tour starting and ending where you choose. The route runs from your chosen start through Marrakech, Casablanca, Fes, Tangier and back. You travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with your own driver, only with your own group, you set the pace, and you stay in hand-picked riads and hotels along the way.

The best part is the desert itself. In Merzouga you swap the car for camels and take a camel ride in Erg Chebbi at sunset, then spend the night in a desert camp in Erg Chebbi with dinner and Berber music by the fire. Wake up early for the sunrise over the dunes — the quietest hour of the whole trip — and try sandboarding before the ride back to the village.

The best time to visit Merzouga is March to May and September to November, when the days are warm and the crowds are thinner. The tour runs all year. Prices start at € 389 per person, and the exact price is in the quote you get after your enquiry — it depends on your group size and the season.

Questions, answered

What does a private tour cost?

The from-price is €389 per person for the short desert tour. The exact price depends on the route, days, hotels and group size — we state it after your enquiry.

Can I choose the hotels myself?

Yes. Tell us your wishes or your budget and we book the hotels and riads. Your own hotel wishes are possible too.

What is the best time for this tour?

March to May and September to November are the best months: warm days, cool desert nights and clear skies. The tour runs all year. In summer (June to August) the desert is very hot, over 45°C, so the camel ride and the camp stay are planned for the cooler hours.

How many days do you need for a tour starting and ending where you choose?

7 days is the right length for this route: starting and ending where you choose, at a relaxed pace, with the desert night in Erg Chebbi and time at each stop. If you have more time, ask us to add a day.

“An amazing desert ride — the sunset and sunrise will stay with you forever, and the staff is always there for you. There is a lot of road to cover by car, but the camel ride repays your patience. We stopped in lovely places with good food along the way. Strongly recommended.”

★★★★★

“The Sahara is a magical place, and I couldn't have asked for better hosts. I arrived late and missed my sunset camel ride, but Hassan arranged a morning ride instead — and the dawn was well worth the early alarm. I loved a day in the desert with Ibrahim: the landscape, the desert plants and animals, the people and history, and Gnaoua music. Ibrahim is also a fantastic cook — he made us a fresh picnic lunch in the shade of a great tamarisk tree. Back at camp in time for a magnificent sunset, a delicious meal and music around the campfire, then glittering stars. Hassan's communication was excellent throughout. A small family business, and it shows in the care they bring to every moment.”
