The 5-day desert tour schedule begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your hotel in Fes. Then we drive south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, which is famous for its cold temperatures, snow, and alpine-style residences. It's no surprise that it's known as Morocco's Switzerland. Then we head to the cedar forest, where the Barbary Macaques live. Feel free to feed them while strolling through the forest. Later, we will travel to Midelt, where lunch will be provided. Then we go to the Sahara desert, driving across the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and down the Ziz river.
In the afternoon, we arrive in the Sahara desert of Merzouga, where you will switch to camels to cross the sandy desert. A pause will be made for you to admire the spectacular sunset from the top of a high dune. Then go to the desert luxury camp, where you may listen to Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire beneath the huge open sky of stars. Dinner and stay at the camp.
Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the lovely sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then you ride camels back to Merzouga, where the driver awaits. We dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga region. The area contains numerous magnificent sights, including sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossil locations, and fabulous oasis. Which are perfect locations for a variety of outdoor sports.
We begin our excursion in Merzouga by driving off-road to see an ancient eyeliner mine. Then we pay the nomads a visit in their hand-woven tent. Drink Berber tea and learn about their way of life. Our next stop is Khamlia village, where you may enjoy Gnaoua music and dance performances. Its residents are from sub-Saharan African nations such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Following that, we take a stroll around the palm tree grove. Then drive a few kilometers to visit the wild lake of Merzouga, commonly known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight At a hotel.
After breakfast, we leave the desert to reach Rissani, Tafilalet's old capital. Rissani remains an important trading center in the region, with a thriving souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After a tour around Rissani Souk, we continue to Erfoud to visit one of the fossilized marble workshops. We next drive via Touroug and Tinjdad palm fields to reach the Todra Gorges. The course of the Todra River has cut out a magnificent canyon through the mountains, resulting in a steep red cliff-sided canyon. These gorges are perfect for rock climbing. Feel free to roam through the gorges and enjoy the scenery. Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Then we continue to the Dades valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. The inevitable halt at the "monkey fingers" rock formation. And on top of a mountain, overlooking the Dades valley. Finally, food and a night in a hotel.
Following breakfast, we continue our journey to Kalaa Magouna to see the Rose Valley. The Rose Festival takes place in May. Locals sell a variety of rose items, including perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetics. Free time for lunch. We then drive through Skoura's palm groves to see the Kasbah of Amridil. Finally, we arrive at Ouarzazate and see the studios where famous movies were shot, as well as the Taourirt Kasbah. Dinner and stay at an accommodation.
On the final day, we go to see the famed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. A fortified settlement designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has appeared in movies like as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as TV series like Game of Thrones. Then we drive to Marrakesh over the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Stops will be made for lunch and to take photographs at noteworthy locations. Finally, we will drop you off at the airport or your hotel in Marrakech. End of the 5-day Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour
